Two little electrodes are integrated in the seat rather inconspicuously. Now if you sit down too quickly, which means a strong pressure is put onto the chair, you perceive an electric shock. Optionally a flashlight lights up at the same time, to guarantee a good visual effect.

As an alternative behaviour, you get an electric shock anytime you don’t sit absolutly still on the chair. Even a slight movement results in an electric shock.
